My parents were the first entrepreneurs I knew. They came to Australia with almost nothing, and built a successful business over nearly two decades. For them, entrepreneurship wasn’t about chasing disruption or changing the world - it was a means to an end, it was making sure that we had food on the table and a good education. I inherited their quiet resilience, which combined with my natural optimism and curiosity, left me constantly looking for the next hill to climb.

This is perhaps why I started my career in investment banking - a high-functioning, uncomfortable yet rewarding environment where I developed the foundation for my strategic thinking, technical skillset, and commercial judgement. At the same time, I was harbouring my creativity and fascination with the start-up world, which would leak out in moments of brainstorming business strategies with my lash technician, keeping a running list of startup ideas, and immersing myself in new worlds through travelling.

Venture capital is an amalgamation of all of these parts of me, it requires both strict discipline and unbridled enthusiasm toward the people and businesses involved. And it’s an easy world to get excited about - the very fabric of it is built on the relentless pursuit of improvement.

For a tech-focused fund, I must say EVP’s biggest strength is not our knowledge of software, but our knowledge of people. At its core, venture capital is the business of relating to people, backing their vision, and accelerating their journey. I am equally obsessed with the big ideas as I am with seeing the inner workings of a business and helping unlock its growth potential.

The SaaS world is currently going through one of the most pivotal transition periods in history with the rise of AI, and it is incredibly exciting to be able to help founders navigate this and change the playbook that exists today. I'm particularly interested in how AI will redefine what it takes to build, scale, and compete in vertical SaaS.

I have lived most of my life trying to close the gap between the values I was raised with and the dreams that I never quite grew out of, and from two hard-working immigrants, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is not always about changing the world, but it is about showing up for the people who need you.
